Pathways Learning Series: Supporting Talent. Unleashing Potential!

This exciting and new self-directed learning program allows you choose your own path to enhancing and advancing your career at the UofA. For more information, visit: www.hrs.ualberta.ca/learning/programs/pathways
The launch of the Pathways Learning Series began January 16th, 2012. Throughout the first 3 months we held 13 information sessions with over 330 people attending. Informal feedback was very positive among participants (who represented Support Staff, APOs and Supervisors).
In February we introduced the first competency - Organizational Citizenship. We held the first 2 of 19 brand new face-to face sessions and evaluations showed that 90% of participants would “apply this education and experience within their work." One participant commented, “It was an effective experience that I will carry with me to help be a better citizen and leader at the UofA. THANKS!”
In March we featured the Communication competency with 3 more courses. 100% of respondents of the course evaluations said they would apply the learning in the workplace. One participant commented, “Thanks for this opportunity. Your thorough research, credibility, and creative teaching exercises were great.” In March we also hosted 3 Learning Circles for supervisors/leaders in Arts, Nursing, and AICT. The purpose was to share information about Pathways and gain feedback about the roll-out process and how leaders could support learning and development.
April presented our Providing Service competency with 2 courses offered to 44 participants. Two additional Learning Circles were completed with leaders and supervisors in Engineering and the Registrar’s Office.
May featured Thriving as a Team Member. This was an exceptional month of launching new course content with 4 new facilitated sessions presented to over 60 participants.
In the coming months we are looking forward to the launch of competency assessment guides to enhance people’s conversations about learning and to get them involved in the unique and fun incentive program for this series! In addition to the rollout of June’s 3 new sessions for Adaptability & Flexibility and 2 new sessions in Utilizing Technology and Equipment.
Hope you’ll check us out online and tap into all the outstanding opportunities this learning series offers!
