GIVE, GROW, PLAY - Blood Drive

Your first opportunity to GIVE!

One of the objectives of the GIVE, GROW, PLAY learning event is to give U of A support staff the opportunity to increase our awareness of, and interaction with, the community in which we live. As part of the event, there will be several opportunities for staff within the U of A to give back to our community. One of those opportunities is available to you right now!

The University has joined forces with Canadian Blood Services as a Partner for Life. The Partners for Life Program is a nationwide program that is designed for corporate and community organizations to join forces with Canadian Blood Services and and save lives. One unit of blood can save the lives of up to three people. To have your donation counted as part of the Partners for Life Program anywhere and any time you donate, register as a Partners for Life member at www.blood.ca/partnersforlife Click ‘Join Partners for Life’ and you will then be able to enter the U of A's partner ID number: UNIV010313.

In addition to Partners for Life, the University of Alberta also actively participates in the Edmonton and Area Corporate Challenge. As part of the games, the University receives credit for every donation made by any individual who indicates an association with the University of Alberta until the end of May.

GIVE, GROW, PLAY is also supporting the blood drive and encouraging people to Give. We ask that any U of A support staff Corporate Challenge blood donors indicate at the time of their donation which of the following categories they fall into within the U of A community of staff:
  • Academic
  • Finance and Administration
  • University Relations
  • Facilities and Operations
  • Research
There will be a cheat sheet with a list of the various U of A departments located at Canadian Blood Services to help staff members determine which category their department falls under.

Note that only the Edmonton Donor Clinic location of the CBS near the U of A Hospital will be tracking Corporate Challenge participation.
You can visit that location at the following address:
CBS - EDMONTON DONOR CLINIC
8249 - 114 STREET
EDMONTON
Please consider supporting the effort in this most important cause and showing the community that the University of Alberta supports giving back.

In addition to the Blood Drive the GIVE, GROW, PLAY learning event will offer U of A staff groups opportunities to participate in a Habitat for Humanity build, as well as donate to our Campus Food Bank and the Edmonton Food Bank prior to and during the learning event. Watch for more details on those opportunities to come out soon!

If you have any questions about this opportunity to Give, please email us at give.grow.play@ualberta.ca
